EurOCEAN conferences are major European marine science policy conferences. They provide a forum for the marine and maritime research community and wider stakeholders to interface with European and Member State policymakers and strategic planners, to consider, discuss and respond to new marine science and technology developments, challenges and opportunities. A key output of EurOCEAN 2014 is the development of a common vision on achieving an ecosystem approach to the management of Europe’s marine resources as a fundamental requirement for sustainable Blue Growth. This common vision was delivered on 08 October in the Rome Declaration, a consensus view of the EurOCEAN 2014 participants, reflecting that of the European marine science community.
The Coordinator attended the Project Coordinators Meeting, side event at the EUROCEAN Conference (6 October 2014), and the EUROCEAN 2014 Conference itself, participating in the discussion that led to the redaction of the Rome declaration.
